CC430 BSL Entry failed (MSPBSL Rocket or MSP-FET)

Hello,

I have been struggling for hours to enter BSL mode on CC430F5137 chips (I need this for mass erasing JTAG chips locked for security reasons). Below are the expermiments and context showing that I tried different things (some of them discussed from the web).

Can somebody help me or give me other ideas. I may have missed something.

I suspect I have a problem of timing in the BSL entry sequence rather than a HW problem.

FYI, as I do not have IAR but CCS, changing the firmware of the MSPBSL rocket might be tricky for me to have a different timing.

Here are the experiments I have done :

I tried to enter with a simple application on the target (CC430) blinking a led. The led never froze.

I have still not tried to use pull up / down on Tx and RX lines as suggested in http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/msp430/f/166/p/314638/1103248#110324.

I can tried if it helps (but from what I understand I am not in the BSL mode). This person seems to have made it on the CC430 but there are not enough information.

Using MSPBLS Rocket from Olimex: below is the RST line (in blue) and the TEST (in red) sequence : full TEST sequence is 6ms

What I see on the TX line of the MSP-FET (P1.5 of target CC430 = UCA0RXD)

 

Context :

1)      MSPBSL« Rocket programmer » from Olimex (updated with latest firmware 24/3/15 v3.0.0 using Python_Firmware_UpgraderGUI)

2)      Target experimental boards are Olimex Board MSP430-CCRF (CC430RF5137 TI 18 KE CKJG G4) and MSP430-CCRFLCD . I Tried on several boards

3)      BSL Scripter (v3.1.0.0, tried also with v3.0.1.0) script is very simple (I also tried the other password free command MASS_ERASE):

LOG

MODE 5xx UART COM4

TX_BSL_VERSION

DELAY 1000

 

4)      BWZ, I also tried another computer with Vista (I am on Windows 10), with the same results.

5)      I also tried to do the same things with a TI latest MSP-FET (not the UIF), the entry sequence is similar except that the scale is extremely different: see below
