MSP432P401R: MSP432: 48MHz Quartz with 40Ohm ESR?

Dear all,

I have got a request from my customer, that they are using a Epson Quartz (Q22FA2380014000) 48MHz with max ESR of 40Ohm. This is out of the specification of the MSP432 datasheet (SLAS826E), but it works on their prototype.

Do we have any experience with 40Ohm ESR 48MHz quartz?
In another post I have seen, that we are using a similar quartz (40Ohm ESR) on our LaunchPad.

What is our recommendation in this case?

Does it make sense to include a serial resistor in order to limit the drive level?
