MSP430F5340: MSP430 HEX file?

Tool/software:

How do I output a .hex file rather than a .out file in CCS 12.0.

We do not want our assemblers using CCS but rather the MSP430 flashing software.

I found this app but no documentation on how to use it beyond CCS 6 and the CCs 6 instructions are not at all close to the menus in CCS 12.

Why can't the binary output file type just be a simple check box in the CCS menu tree? It seems this hex file output option is a constant issue on this forum going back 10 years!
