TIDM-02003: Working on a ultrasonic gas meter design without the level shifter U9 SN74LVC2T45

Tool/software:

I am working on a design according to TIDM-02003. However, I think 3.3V as the excitation voltage is enough. So, the U9 SN74LVC2T45 is not required on my board. Is there a recommend schematic without this level shifter?
