Part Number:MSP430FR6989
Hello,
Is anyone aware of how the MSP430FR6989 can be used with a battery to support the RTC? Other MSP430 micros support a VBAT power input from a battery, but the MSP430FR6989 does not. It looks like the intention is that power be applied to the MSP430FR6989 all the time, once the time and date has been set in the RTC. If power is every removed, then the current time and date is lost.
So, for a battery to be added to a design using the MSP430FR6989, it is necessary to put the circuitry to support the battery on the outside of the MSP430FR6989. Is this a correct assumption?
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
Adam
