CCS/MSP430FR5969: Can Energy Trace Technology monitor the power consumption of both MCU and attached devices?

Part Number:MSP430FR5969

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Dear all,

I'm using the Energy Trace Technology tool available on CCS. My goal is to monitor the power consumption of the target MCU and sensors which are connected to the MCU via I2C and SPI modules. I used J13 header in a MSP-EXP430FR5969 launchpad to supply power to a target MCU and sensors (please see attached the block diagram) as well as to debug the MCU via Spy-Bi-Wire protocol. The MSP-EXP430 is connected to my computer through an USB to PC cable. Using the Energy Trace Technology on CCS, I got the data including voltage, current and accumulated energy over time.

My questions are:

1. With that configuration, is the data taken the power consumption of only the MCU, or of MCU and sensors altogether?

2. Where are the  "built-in on-the-fly calibration circuit" and the "software-controlled DC-DC converter" to determine the energy consumption of the attached circuit? Are they available on the launchpad? Or do I have to use the MSP-FET which integrates these components?

Thank you very much for your time and hope I can get some comments soon.
