EVM430-F6779

We have the EVM430-F6779 development board, and I am experimenting with that board but do not succeed everything.

What I have done so far:

  • I have connected the board with RS232 cable to the pc RS232 com port.
  • download the data sheet and the software (SLAA577), in the data sheet is a link to the software.
  • according to the data sheet I should program the MSP430F67791A (which controller is on the board) but I am unable to do that because we do not have the right programmer.
  • then I try to calibrate the development board by changing the com port in \slaa577\MSP430F6779A\Source\GUI\GUI2\calibration-config.xml.
  • then start up the calibration software and get a pop-up: MSP430 E-meter calibration control, where factory no, serial no, property no, consuption, distributor password and room temperature can be filled in, but I do not have any information what to do with it and I do not have any password, factory no, serial no and property no.
  • But I can still move on with the E-meter mass calibration, dubble click on the first meter and a window pop up.
  • in this window I see the values of each phase, those seems fine and change if I put a load to it.
  • Then i want to start a manual calibration, click on the button and a next window pop up.
  • I insert values for the calibration and click update meter.
  • In first instance the meter calibration values did not change, this was because I was working on a windows xp system I guess because when I changed to a windows 7 computer it did change the values.
  • But because it is changed I thought I have to change them back because I have tried a several times on windows xp (where I get values from the EVM430-F6779 but not the calibrated values)
  • So I did reset the values with -100% (forgotten that the value of that is readed will also reset itself to 0.0)
  • This means that I cannot see any value any more except the frequency.

Now my questions are:

- Do I have to fill in the form with MSP430 E-meter calibration control? And if so, where can I find the right numbers and password?

- Is it possible to reset the calibrated values to default and how?

- The calibrated data values, where are they saved because when I remove the voltage and make sure the capacitors are empty, the calibrated value is still available after startup and I do not see that the MSP430F67791A is requesting data from the Eeprom.

- What programmer do you advise to program the MSP430F67791A, the MSP-FET?

- The Eeprom on the board, is that one used? because I cannot see any data going over the I2C.

I hope someone can help me with my questions.
